It is our opinion that the future of all medicine, including psychiatry involves some awareness of and treatment of the process of aging. The human body does not "wear out", it self-destructs, in a predictable and systematized fashion and a number of conditions are associated with this process affecting various organ systems. Dr. Grace has been a member of the academy of anti-aging (see link below) for a number of years and followed the latest anti-aging research for some time. For the first time, it appears that we have a reasonable, quantifiable test to measure aging...on a cellular level-known as telomere length. (see link below) It is our hope that this will soon lead to a measure of rate of aging that we can apply various interventions towards measuring. Starting next year we will begin seeing patients in this paradigm. Measuring aging and various interventions with the hope of finding specific interventions that slow the rate of aging on a cellular level.
Please do not confuse this with what amounts to lipservice antiaging medicine that is based on cosmetic repair without addressing the underlying cellular mechanism. This approach is not about looking younger...it's about being younger.
