Dr. John Grace is board certified in General Psychiatry.  He directs a dedicated team including physician assistants, nurse practitioners, therapists, social workers, nurses, medical assistants and students.  Please read below to get to know our staff.

Dr. John Grace

        Dr. Grace completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana graduating Magna Cum Laude with dual degrees in Biology and Psychology.  From there, he went on to Southern Illinois University to complete his Master's Course work in History.  He continued at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine for his Doctorate of Medicine before going to the University of South Florida in Tampa for his residency in general psychiatry. 


        Throughout his academic career, Dr. Grace has been involved in the field of mental health.  While attending the University of Illinois, he worked in a long-term care facility for the mentally ill.  In addition, he worked as a resident advisor for the University.  In medical school, he worked for the Springfield Community Mental Health Center, performing emergency psychiatric evaluations for the hospital and outpatient evaluations for the center.  While in residency, he worked for the Bay Pines Veteran's Hospital in Clearwater as the psychiatrist on-call.  He also worked for James Halley Veteran's Hospital, consulting on psychiatric compensation and pension evaluations. In 1999, Dr. Grace won the prestigious Rock Sleyster Award from the AMA for the top medical students entering psychiatry in the nation.  In 2002 he served as one of 12 Glaxo Smith Kline Fellows in the country.

     Dr. Grace has been in private practice in Crystal River Florida since July 2004.  He hosted a weekly radio show in Ocala Florida from 2006-2007, Sound Thinking with Dr. John Grace. He is on clinical faculty at the University of South Florida Department of Psychiatry and Lincoln Memorial University Debusk College of Osteopathic Medicine teaching psychiatric residents, medical students, and physician assistants regarding mental illness. Dr. Grace is also the medical director of the Memory Enhancement Center of America, a non for profit organization focusing on bringing state of the art memory care to a rural setting and a Board Member of Florida Wellcare Alliance, the largest private physician organization in Citrus County. 

     In addition, he continues to publish academic and personal literature in various publications (see link to the left)​ and is currently at work on his fourth book,  Empowerment Through Poker, which aims to use Casino Poker as a therapeutic milieu.

Lisa Nalepa, Practice Manager

My employment with John W. Grace, M.D, P.A. began in June, 2009. I began working from home in marketing and came on board in the office March 2011 as Practice Manager.  I have three children, a loving husband and 3 beautiful grand babies. My hobbies include traveling, boating and spending time with my family.

Lauren Starnes, PA-C

Lauren Starnes is a certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). She joined our practice in February of 2015. She was born and raised in Memphis, TN, where she also attended undergrad at The University of Memphis graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She worked in pediatrics for 2 years as a clinical assistant and was a volunteer at LeBonheur Children's Hospital before attending PA school. It was during her PA school education and rotations that Lauren became passionate about psychiatric medicine. Lauren is a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, TN, with a Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies. She also enjoys teaching students on their psychiatric rotation and works with Lincoln Memorial University's PA Program as the Clinical Director of Student Medical Education for the Nature Coast Region. Lauren has not only been seeing patient in our clinic for years but also has worked in the partial hospitalization program (PHP) helping acutely ill patients and provides individual counseling as well.

Hunter Cooper, PA-C

I was born and raised in Tennessee, but also spent 10 years in the upper Midwest in North and South Dakota. I completed my undergraduate degree with a pre-med option of zoology at North Dakota State University. I completed my Masters of Medical Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Lincoln Memorial University in northeast Tennessee. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, listening to music, and watching sports (Go Vols!). 

Karen Lister, LCSW

Karen M. Lister is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who has worked with Dr. Grace in his office, as Psychotherapist for over 10 years. She has a varied background, having worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, and in both the public and private sector providing Social Work and Psychotherapy services to a wide range of patient populations. Currently, Ms. Lister provides individual, marital, and group therapy services to patients of Dr. Grace, addressing a broad range of diagnoses and presenting problems, including but not limited to Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, as well as adjustment disorders, grief work, and self image work.

Jacinda (Jacey) Laundree, LCSW

Jacinda (Jacey) Laundree is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes excellent and effective care begins by meeting you right where you are. She specializes in Mindfulness with a strong CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) focus. She also leads a mindfulness group in our office 2 days a week. Jacey has a 10+ year history of work in both inpatient and outpatient mental health and addiction settings; she has worked in academia and is passionate about teaching the skills necessary to overcome problematic anxiety and panic, low self-esteem, and mood disorders. She began work with Dr. Grace in February, 2016 and is originally from upstate NY, where she received her MSW at SUNY Albany School of Social Welfare.

Dr. Joseph Bousquet

Joseph Bousquet, PhD, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who provides counseling to individuals, couples, and families. Dr. Bousquet has always been interested in both psychological and social factors behind human behavior, as reflected in his diverse training. Dr. Bousquet earned his PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1996. He also has a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from The University of Connecticut, a Masters degree in Sociology from the University of Florida, and an undergraduate degree in Sociology from Florida State University. Dr. Bousquet is a Diplomate in the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, a member of the Association of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies, a member of the Association of Psychological Science, and a member of the American Psychological Association.

Lisa Charette, LPN

Lisa was born and raised in Crystal River, FL. She is married with 2 children and has been a nurse since 2002. She has experience in the home health, hospital and rehab settings and was the administrator of assisted living facility for 8 years. Lisa has previously worked in marketing as well. She has been working with Dr. Grace as the head nurse since 2013.

Marisa Chaloux, LPN

Since June 2012, I have been part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team here at John W. Grace, MD, PA. I studied at Pasco Hernando College and obtained my certificate for Licensed Practical Nurse in 2008. Continued my education at CFCC, FL to further my career for a higher Nursing level degree. I began my career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in 2008. My nursing experience and education has been in various areas of patient care including: Nursing homes and Rehabilitation center, Alzheimers unit, Neuro-telemetry unit, Cardiac, Hospice and End of Life Care, Home Health Care, FL Department of Correctional Facility in Medical unit, Adolescent Psyciatric-Mental Health for Drug and Alcohol addiction, Supervised Pediatric/Adult Psyciatric-Mental Health Medication Management Clinic. I believe I have an unique combination of strong nursing skills from these experiences and this allows me to provide great care to patients here at John Grace, MD, PA. I believe in building a long lasting and trusting relationship with my patients and seek to acquire a comprehensive evaluation of every patient by taking time to listen and understand their particular needs.

John Jhanke, LPN

John has worked at this office for a number of years as a part of the team under Dr Grace. He has previous experience in a variety of healthcare settings. His friendly, kind nature sets both patients and staff at ease each day.

Karen Sokolowski, LPN

Karen joined our office on April 1st 2019, yes thats right she came on board with this team on April Fools Day! Karen became an LPN in 2011 and she has worked in a variety of healthcare settings including remote mobile units, med surg and memory care units. She also used to be a safety coordinator for construction sites and was a foster parent for many years. This variety of experience gives her a compassionate and understanding view of our patients. 

Rhonda Jent, CNA

Rhonda joined the office in 2019 and she is currently working to collect copays and answer questions with billing.

Jennifer Dekeyser

My name is Jen and I have lived in Citrus County since 1986, which has been a wonderful area to raise my two children. I have been employed with Dr. John Grace since April of 2011 and recently completed my certification at Withlacochee Technical College as a Medical Administrative Specialist. I truly love my job and the wonderful people I get to work with each day.

Robert (Bob) McCartney

27 years of experience in business and financial management. Current duties include: A/R account problem solving, with direct communication with our Insurance Carriers ; Patient Insurance benefits coordination; Daily Co-Payment schedule management and coordination, etc.
